Wage Reopener Negotiations

|
Members,
The SLPOA bargaining team met with the City’s team today to discuss our wage reopeners for Police Officers and Sergeants. The City was not prepared to counter our offer. We have another meeting scheduled for November 13, 2024. If the negotiations are stalled any further, we will announce a different plan of action going forward immediately following that meeting.
Firefighter parity is a constant obstacle for our organization. SLPOA is open to numerous options to get the deal done but we have still not been able to get this over the finish line. We also want our members to be aware that your work hours are a mandatory subject of bargaining. There will be no moves to an 11-hour shift or any other changes in hours without it being negotiated with the union.
We know the members are exhausted with waiting for an answer for their future. Your SLPOA Bargaining Team is constantly trying to move the needle. Unfortunately, thus far we are not seeing the same commitment from the Department and the City. You deserve to be compensated appropriately. You deserve better from the City and this Department.
Respectfully,
The SLPOA Bargaining Team
