State Representative Belinda Harris, District 110, a co-sponsor of HB 1601 (Local Control) sent a letter to the Association Office on Feb 4, 2010, and explained that she became a co-sponsor of HB1601 after Representative Nasheed, the sponsor of the bill, asked her to be a co-sponsor and told her that the Saint Louis Police Force was supportive of her efforts.

Representative Harris stated after she signed on as a co-sponsor, she has been contacted by several individuals asking her to oppose any such local control legislation and she has since notified Representative Nasheed that she will no longer be supporting her bill.

Any members residing in District 110 are asked to send Representative Harris a short note  thanking her for her support.
