The legislative session came to a close without the return to a governor-appointed Board of Police Commissioners.  Many legislators worked tirelessly on this bill, but despite their efforts we were unable to get it over the finish line.  However, SLPOA was able to get another important piece of legislation passed which addresses the overreach of the Civilian Oversight Board recently created by the Board of Aldermen.  SLPOA was also able to lobby for additional money in the budget to address the unfunded mandate within the LEOBOR bill which will hopefully end any further opposition.  We would like to thank the following legislators for their support with our efforts this year.
